chicken tree’s

I’ve jus been at cell group & Mike & Lorna gave me a really cool CD boxset for kids club!!! “Ultimate Kids Praise – 60 All Time Classic Kids Praise Songs” on 3 discs!!! There are plenty of really cheesey ones, but some absolute gems!!! Check out “Chicken Tree”, here’s a sample of the lyrics :

“Once there was a little chicken
sitting in the chicken tree,
Chicka, chicka, chicka, chicka, chicka,
chicka chicken
sitting in the chicken tree
Chicka, chicka, chicka, chicka, chicka,
chicka chicken
sitting in the chicken tree
Chicka, chicka, chicka, chicka, chicka,
chicka chicken
Praising God in the chicken tree”

It then does the same but with Duck and ducka, goose and goosey, and finally pelican and peli!?! What a genius song!!
Here’s the lyrics for a Doug Horley one on the discs called “Lovely Jubbly”:

“He made the fish that fly,
eyes that cry
birds that poo
upon you shoe
He made whales that sing
Bees that sting
He even gave the cat its furry bottom”

Actually Doug Horley is a bit of legend with our Kids club, and as you can tell by these lyrics, he deserves it!!!

Whilst on subject of kids praise, one more song that must get a mention but isn’t on the disc’s is “Talk Talk”, but i don’t know who it’s by, anyway here’s a little snippet of the lyrics:

“You can talk to God
Before you eat
You can talk to God
Before you sleep
Where ever you are
What ever you do
You can even talk to him
on the… Bus!”

Why did Kids get the best songs to praise God with? All we get is Matt Redman & Tim Hughes with their “deep and meaningful” lyrics! Come on boys, shove some poo in your songs!! God loves a bit of toilet humour!!!
