Let me just say first and foremost thank you to all who joined us for the Ze Frank Toilet Paper Fashion Awards 2004 aftershow party at Mr Scruff. I think we all had a fantastic time although Watson is still recovering from his head injuries (it’s been a while since he last tried to breakdance and he’s not quite the ol’ spring he used to have in his legs when performing a back flip – his neck brace is coming off this thurdsday though!) Anyway, we took a few pictures though there wasn’t any toilet paper in the club to photograph (very disappointing!)

Outside KFC Staring Derek, Marie and half of Sarah’s head (Rosie & friends in background). Taken about 1hr after we started queuing. ETA to Music Box approx. 15mins

Chris and Thanh Mai who were stood on the other side of me in the queue. ETA to Music Box approx. 13mins

The gang about 10mins after we finally got in sipping nice hot tea & coffee in the tea room. *sigh* Bisto!

Chris and a cup of a tea! That’s what Scruff is all about!!
Anyway, on to the more important matter of loo roll and recycling!!! It seems that i had some mis-guided pre-conceived ideas about recycled toiler paper (basically i thought they actually recycled the used toilet paper! Which one of the main reasons i started this investigation) It turns out that toilet paper is not recycled (The Sun would have a field day!!) When it says “Recycled Toilet Paper” on a packet it, it simply mains that it was made from old paper, NOT used toilet sheets! To quote from www.wildlifewatch.org.uk
“Most other paper can be recycled, but toilet paper only goes down the loo.
The only way it gets recycled is as part of sewage sludge which might get used as fertiliser.”
Personnally I am both shocked and relieved! We also discovered at www.wildlifewatch.org.uk that they have a kids section that tells you how to make your own recycled paper!!! So, I think that maybe Watson & I will have a go! Our investigation also uncovered some other interesting ways you can recycle you toilet rolls:
- A Check box Camera
- Abel the Shepherd
- A Mardi Gras Party Popper
- An Indian Corn On The Cob
- Loads of different musical instruments (perhaps you could use them in your band Sven?)
I think The Toilet Paper Mystery is over for now, I’ve got too many exciting toilet paper crafts to do!!! But I believe that we have all been enlightened and can now live better lives. I shall leave you with one final quotation “NOT ALL RECYCLED PAPER IS CREATED EQUAL!”.
