My Wild and Wonderful Sunday

Yesterday was the first day of the new kids club at church with our cactus club kids. It was both fun and not fun. I was bit, kicked in the chin and told off by an old lady for playing pat-a-cake in the worship with one of kids – that last one really pee’d me off! The biting and kicking you expect from a hyperactive, misbehaving child, but for me to look after 6 kids on my own in a completely none kiddy-fied environment for 15minutes was a pushing it. I mean, how can you expect 6 kids, none of whom have been to church before to sit quietly while a bunch of old farts put their hands in the sky and sway, chanting hits from the bible camps? And it doesn’t just apply to the kids I was with, how can any kid be expected to sit there through that! What frustrated me more with the woman was that she said “Some of us want to worship”. Don’t we all? It’s just kids in particular have to worship in way that relates to them. How can you expect them to join in when most of them can’t read!!! I think next week I will say I’m gonna play a few games starting from as soon as I get their, the rest of the helpers can pray, setup craft whatever, because I’m not gonna force the poor kids to sit there through that boringness (I realised I’m creating some new words here – but they’re the only way I can express my frustration) I should say I’m not annoyed with the woman, I’m annoyed with the way the church has ignored the kids. Infact, maybe I should just let the kids all run riot during the worship in the main meeting, I’m sure that’d be a much better way of getting things to change :D
