Sencha touch, YQL and BBC essential mix
So following on from earlier post this week about writing an Ext app which uses YQL to show the BBC radio1 essential mix tracklisting I decided to re-implement the same thing but using the new sencha touch library. Here it is: BBC Essential Mix Trackisting for Android, Ipad and Iphone I’ll post later this week [...]
Playing with Ext.js, YQL and BBC radio1 Essential Mix
I’m a big fan of the radio1 essential mix and list to almost every week. I’m also getting more and more stuck into Ext.js at work. I also saw a great talk by Christian Heilmann of Yahoo at Full Frontal last and he demo’ed YQL. So I thought I’d give it a go and make [...]
Broken Home DJ Set
This is a mix which I did in a club back in Macclesfield in 2001 for a club night called Broken Home. The recording is me preparing in my bedroom a day or two beforehand so excuse the bad scratching and FX. Broken Home Set (demo) 2001 by mattgoldspink
All Vinyl Mix – KISS (2004 REMIX) by PRINCE is now in stock
I finally tracked down a copy of the Soul Of Man Remix of Prince’s Kiss a few weeks back after first hearing it on the Cut & Paste essential mix on Radio 1 back in 2000 (I didn’t realise it was a full 9 years ago!!). It took 5 years to figure out it was [...]
New Summer Mix
It’s not very summery. After seeing 2manydj’s a few weeks back I realised I needed to do some DJing. It’s only 30mins, but it packs in about 20 tunes (including the obligatory Michael Jackson tribute): Download: 11-july-2009.mp3 Tracklist: Hot Chip – Ready For The Floor Cities In Dust (Glimmers Remix). – Junkie XL Hey Boy [...]
I’m heading back to Mallorca!
Wahey! I’ve just booked me & Amy a cheap flight to Mallorca on Tuesday for 5 days. I can’t wait! My brother’s got a kayak now so I can have a go at eskimo rolls for my 25 challenges and I can go skinny dipping! (I never got round to doing it last time, tho I did pee in the sea which is quite a weird experience. Anyway, thats by the by) So, yeah, I’m off 2mz to London too to party!!! And meet up with a few of the Binnie Court guys (reunions, yey!) I’m all hyper now!
Me and My DS
Last weekend I was pretty ill with I don’t know what, so I decided I’d treat myself and buy a Nintendo DS last Tuesday to keep myself occupied while i was in bed at my sisters. It’s soooooooo addictive! I got it with the Brain Age game & my Dad is also addicted to it! Infact on the Tuesday night at my sisters, all the Ushers for her wedding were there bashing away and screaming colours at it (it’s got a built in mic with speech recognition and a touch screen). It’s also got WiFi built into it so I was playing against a little lad at the wedding the other day (not during the actual service cos that would just be wrong) which was awesome!! So everyone go and get a DS and lets play together (I want some friends basically). If you get one make sure you go and buy New Super Mario Bros! If you loved the old one on the GameBoy (back in the day) then you’ll absolutely love this version!!! It’s exactly the same style, but the graphics are amazing!!! And it’s so much more fun!!!

My sister’s married!
I’ve been away all last week helping my sister, Rachel, prepare for her big wedding day to Paul. It was such a great day! She looked really beautiful (as you can see in this picture). It was such a great day too. I was an Usher/DJ so I felt quite important. The speeches were very funny and my Dad’s speech (‘as Bride of the Father’ which he kept saying when rehearsing) went really well. So well done to him! And I can now have an extra brother! These two photo’s are from the photographer’s blog, they’re excellent pictures! If you’d like to see them, go to http://hyde-end.blogspot.com/2006/07/rachel-and-pauls-wedding.html. Take a look at some of my photo’s in my photo gallery. Now I just got to prepare for my big brother’s wedding in Mallorca! That will be fun!!!

I’m really…
bored. Well, I’m only bored at the moment, I’m surprised how well I’ve kept myself occupied over the last few days/weeks. It’s been great fun! I decided to start saying “yes” when people ask if I want to do stuff (I’m taking a leaf out of “Yes Man” – go read it, it’s brilliant!). Last night I went to a BBQ at a random house, to see Kerrie. On Saturday I said Yes to helping out with a kids club and Yes to going to Buxton carnival. I also said Yes to going to James’ party in Manc, but got stranded in Buxton and wouldn’t really have been able to make it, but I still said Yes! This afternoon I’m going to give Amy a rollerblading lesson! I can’t wait!
How rubbish are the British public!
Very rubbish! I’ve decided I’m never going to get into rubbish TV shows like Big Brother again, because they just leave me disappointed with the state of people’s opinions. Tonight, Nikki was evicted from Big Brother. Out of a choice of 11 people, they evicted the one who has the most personality and is by far the funniest housemate in the whole series!!! Are they bloody mad? I’m so riled (I never use that word – I’ve expanded my vocabulary to get my frustration across). If you’ve not watched Big Brother, and I can understand why, then just let yourself go for a minute and watch a few videos of Nikki’s best bits all hand picked from new friend Youtube.
- Nikki’s audition tape
- Nikki complaining about not being able to drink tap water as she only has bottled water (An absolute classic!)
- Nikki recites HER version of the alphabet (missing out U & V – utter genius!!!)
- Nikki complaining about being Big Brother’s PA (Another Classic)
- Another Classic – Nikki complaining about the heatng in the diary room (I’m so cooooooooooollllllllllllllllllllllllllldddddddd – add warbling effect to last word)
- And another classic! (She’s ace! What can I say) Nikki in the biggest huff ever!
I’m just gonna leave it at thoes for now. If i find anymore I’ll put them up, but here’s some pics of the many faces of Nikki!

Are you Matt Goldspink?
I’ve been reading a very funny book called “Are you Dave Gorman?” in which two flatmates, Dave Gorman and Danny Wallace, make a bet that Dave can’t find 54 people with the same name as him. It’s a true story and there was a TV show and a comedy circuit of it, and the book has photo’s of all the Dave Gorman’s met. Now I was wondering if there any other Matt or Matthew Goldspinks in the world. Odds are… no! Goldspink is a very rare name and I don’t think I’ve ever knowingly met anyone with the name that is not related to me. But, if anyone does know a Matt or Matthew Goldspink other than me then I’d like to hear from them! I don’t know why, it’d just be interesting to compare life stories and… well I don’t just have a chat!
In other news, I’ve been granted a US Visa (woohoo!) so I’ll be going to New York with work now. I had a slight break down in communications with the woman interviewing me for my visa. She asked me to place my “right ring finger” on the fingerprint scanner. Unfortunately I had no idea which one my “ring finger” was and so looked at her blankly. She then demonstrated by waving all four fingers at me! I looked even blanker. It was only then I realised she was touching one finger with her thumb. Using my amazing powers of deduction, I guessed she meant that finger. So I put it on, only to hear her say “your RIGHT ring finger, please”. Needless to say she probably thinks I’m far to thick to be harmful to any Americans!
