I’m knackered!
I skated 8 miles today, from Hyde Park to Camden but it was awesome! Here’s the route: http://www.lfns.co.uk/route.php/20080302. I finally found exercise which is fun and doesn’t involve being in a gym watching mindless tv.
Skating, Singing & Spot Squeezing
Ok, a life lesson. Never squeeze spots in public, even if you think no-one’s watching, because chances are there are 20 people watching you on security camera upstairs. At least they were kind enough to applaud me when I got out of the lift! Anyway, what a great weekend! BLVD on friday night (see the pictures below, they’re on picasa web because there were far too many to put up here), then ice skating in central park yesterday, followed by a Korean BBQ (Now Julia and everyone else can stop pestering me to try Korean food, and ‘yes’ it is good!) and then we went to Korean Karaoke thingy. How much fun was that!!! My voice is slightly croaky now though, at least my next (and final) phone interview is not until Tuesday morning.
Doesn’t it look like Simon is trying to slip Dom the tongue in this picture?
Mallorca trip number 2
Me and Amy got back from Mallorca this morning at 5am. Having had very little sleep on a freezing cold airplane, I happily tucked myself into bed and had the best sleep ever!!! We had a fantastic time! We went Rollerblading, Kayaking, Snorkelling, Touristing, had LOADS of ice cream (they have some amazing home-made ice cream parlours), had tapas, I even had to cook my own food in one restaurant on a heated stone, and Amy played lots of Sudoku… infact I think the last 2 days of the holiday were mostly taken up with me waiting for Amy to finish playing Suduko or helping complete one at 2am when I was half sleep. I wish I’d never taken that bloody Nintendo away with me
(aside from that, I found out I’ve got one of the 1 in 5000 with a dodgy hinge and need to get it fixed now
)

Mix Of The Month: May (Guest mix)
Once again I’ve been a bit busy with Uni work (though I’m almost done now, just 3000 words to go!) So I’ve been looking through possible candidates for Mix of The Month and have found what I think is a superb mix of hiphop, rock, 70s, 80s, 90s cheese and any anything else under sun. It’s by DJ Dexter from the Avalanches (they of “Since I Left You” & “Frontier Pyschiatrist” fame). I can honestly say that DJ Dexter is one of the best live DJs ever!! To see his funky afro bouncing around as he scratches and flips between records every minute or so is just amazing!
Just take a look at the tracklisting, give it a listen and see what you think!

Please die this time Dave!
I always hated the attention seeking kids at school. Why couldn’t they just make friends with people in the normal way? Just talk to them! Play football every now and then (or whatever the in thing is – I think Rollerblading and YoYo’s were in things whilst I was at school). I remember one attention seeking guy who claimed he was from Jupiter and his Dad was the ruler of Jupiter. He would sit there at the back of class and try and shoot people with his Laser armed Ventolin Inhaler!?! (It’s true, Amy & Mul will confirm it for me). At least he’s not climbed into a glass bubble full of water for 7 days like David Blaine. Seriously, I think he has some issues! First burial, then ice, then starving in a glass box (did he stand on pillar for a week once too or something?), now he’s drowning himself for fun! Actually, I don’t hate the guy so much I want him to die, but wouldn’t it be a great news story if he did? Actually it wouldn’t, thats quite a harsh thing to say. Sorry David. Good luck with your underwater thingy. One question though? Won’t you be swimming in your own piss after a day or so?
The man who can make a center parting with the muscles in his head Part 1
At our church lunch yesterday, Chris informed me of story he heard when he was younger about a man who had somehow managed to control the muscles in his head so much so that he can make his hair form a center parting! And I, sticking to my word, said I would find out if this was true & so here I am!!! Unfortunately, Watson couldn’t make it this time. I called him and he said he’d met someone & they were having “love in a tub”, whatever that is? So it’s just me on my diddly squat lonesome (that’s where you’re meant to say “Awww!” and give me lots of sympathy). So on with the show!!!!
So far I have put done three different searches on google & have made an interesting discovery! Have you ever noticed that your face never gets goosebumps? It’s true (unless you’re a genetic freak, of which there are many of us in our own unique ways). Firstly a bit of info from www.kidshealth.org:
And what about when you’re ice skating or sledding and suddenly saying “brrrr!!” When you are cold, your blood vessels keep you warm by narrowing as much as possible, and keeping the warm blood away from the skin’s surface. You won’t sweat at all, but you might notice tiny bumps on your skin. Most kids call these “goosebumps,” but the fancy name for it is the pilomotor (say: pie-low-mo-ter) reflex. This is when special tiny muscles called the erector pili (say: ee-reck-tur pie-lee ) muscles pull on your hairs and make them stand up very straight. This traps warm air between the hairs and keeps you warmer.
So goosebumps are caused by little muscles called erector pili! I remember being taught in biology about pilo-erection (of course being teenage boys we would giggle for obvious reasons! *chuckle*). Anyway, back to the question, we don’t have erector pili in our face, so the little hairs on face don’t stand on end (unless it’s stubble)! Amazing!!! Here’s a diagram of a hair:

I also discovered some “Hairy Facts” that dispel certain myths about facial hair!:
- Myth: Shaving at an early age causes thicker and coarser hair to grow later in life:It is a myth that shaving at an early age causes thicker, coarser hair to grow when one is older. The appearance and texture of hair is strictly determined by heredity. When hair begins to grow back, it appears to be thicker and coarser, however, if allowed to grow, it will take on its original appearance and texture.
- Myth: Shaving can cause hair to grow faster: Shaving does not promote faster growth of hair. This is strictly determined by heredity.
I also found this picture of a record breaking beard:

LONGEST BEARD–LIVING FEMALE
The living woman with the longest beard is Vivian Wheeler of Wood River, Illinois. Her beard wa smeasured at 10.5 inches at the Guinness World Records Experience in Orlando, Florida on May 19, 2001.
I have still not managed to find out if Chris’s story is true or not, but i endevour to carry on!!! Stay tuned (or blogged or whatever)…
