Mix Of The Month: May (Guest mix)

Once again I’ve been a bit busy with Uni work (though I’m almost done now, just 3000 words to go!) So I’ve been looking through possible candidates for Mix of The Month and have found what I think is a superb mix of hiphop, rock, 70s, 80s, 90s cheese and any anything else under sun. It’s by DJ Dexter from the Avalanches (they of “Since I Left You” & “Frontier Pyschiatrist” fame). I can honestly say that DJ Dexter is one of the best live DJs ever!! To see his funky afro bouncing around as he scratches and flips between records every minute or so is just amazing!
Just take a look at the tracklisting, give it a listen and see what you think!

Sweet!!!

The Beast Is Complete

My New ShuttleYes! I’ve finally finished my new computer! I bought a new 256Mb Graphics Card & a copy of Windows XP on Saturday and set those up. And today I copied all my music across & installed the second sound card so my mini funk box is already for DJing live! I think my first live gig with it will be my big sisters wedding – a perfect opportunity for it to go tits up! There’s only 2 more non-essential bits i want for it. A second beast of a hard drive & a flat screen monitor. Then I’m well & truly sorted.

Done and Dusted!!

Well I had my last exam yesterday. My word it was tough, trying to remember pre-written answers. It was the one where our lecturer had already emailed us the exam paper by accident! Haha! So now I’m free to do all the random things I wanted to! Finish off ThirtyBots, make my Shuttle PC for DJing (money permitting), and complete a load more of my 25 challenges. I’ve not forgotten them! Infact I’ve started learning Spanish for when I go to Mallorca & my Didgeridoo skills are coming on swimmingly. I can almost do circular breathing, but I can’t get enough puff to keep the didgeridoo sound going. I’ve also been looking into Kayaking courses and founf Plas Menai, where I used to do them, have a one day Eskimo Roll Kayaking session!! £60 though is pushing it a bit, even if it is in a heated pool and i get a free packed lunch.

So for my first day of freedom I’m gonna get on thirtybots, which I’m gonna make into generic bot called JimBot. I’m gonna tidy up the code, iron out a few bugs and create some funky documentation so people can easily create handlers to make it do whatever they want! For example, thirtybots is just a handler I’ve created. Hence why it made more sense to create a generic bot. Off I go then.

30bots: I’m all fired up

I have to say after Narendra’s comment on my blog, I’m so so fired up to get 30bots finished (or at least to some sort of useful state) as soon as possible. I’m amazed that he even managed to find my blog amongst the stagnent pile of cack that’s cluttering up the net these days. Bearing in mind I have two coursework deadline’s coming up and my finals at the start of April, I’m gonna make sure I don’t stuff those up. However, I have been working pretty hard on it, trawling through the old Bobsy code, trying to find equivalent functions or better ways of doing things. I’ve actually learnt quite a lot. I think the extreme Java course is paying of because I’ve created a dynamic handler system using the Reflection API (something PHP does quite easily) so people can create customised handlers to extend the basic functionality with custom methods on the handlers (probably sounds like nothing to some people, but when you’ve not really used it before it’s a nice challenge!)

Anyway, fingers crossed I’m hoping to have the empty MSN bot code done by the end of the weekend. Then I’ll do my coursework next week, then I’ll go out for my bday that weekend (rock on!), then I’ll revise for my finals the following week and then I’ll sit my finals. Then I’m pretty much free to finish whatever else needs touching up ove Easter and 30Bots should be with everyone in it’s full form by the end of April. Sod’s law says it won’t (Murphy’s law to any Americans).

I wonder what’s in my exam?

Well, I can infact tell you the exact questions in my eCommerce exam because our dopey lecturer emailed it us!!! Hahahahaha!! I have to say he was one of the best lecturer’s I’ve had since before he made this cock-up. Now he’s shot straight to top of the all time greatest lecturers! And the other great thing is, they can’t re-write the paper because the exam is in 3 weeks and there’s not enough time to go through all the proper procedures! How cool is that! You’ve got be a muppet to fail this exam now!

Important reflection task:

Shirley BasseyYou have to question your sexuality when you find yourself walking in to university singing a (magnificent) rendition of “Hey Big Spender”. Suppose it’s better then finding myself in builder’s outift singing “In The Navy”.

It was all going so well…

…until i read this:
“Next, the first two rNTPs complementary to the DNA bind to the active site of RNA polymerase and the first phosphodiester bond is formed.”

What the hell does any of that mean!!!
